29th September, 2020
Gulf Oil Lubricants India and South Korea's S-Oil Corporation have been doing business together for the past 15 years. S-Oil Corporation supplied base oil to the Gulf Oil Lubricants. However On Monday (28th September, 2020) the two companies took these relations one step forward with their marketing and manufacturing tie up.
As per the deal, the company will exclusively manufacture and market S-Oil's entire range of lubricants under the brand S-Oil Seven only for the Indian market. For international markets the products will be supplied directly from South Korea.
It is for the first time ever that S-Oil is manufacturing their products outside of South Korea. S-Oil has approved the manufacturing to take place in Gulf Oil's Chennai Plant and they have already started producing pilot batches.
Gulf Oil Lubricants India have 7.5-8% share in the Indian market currently out of which only 4% consists of passenger car market, but now with this tie up they are hoping to increase their market share in passenger car market as S-Oil has a good reputation and experience in the passenger car market globally.
According to the management of Gulf Oil Lubricants India, the products of S-Oil Seven will hit the Indian market in the third quarter of the current financial year.
